Welcome To Gulf Oil & Gas

The Tyco Model B-1 Upright and Pendent Foam-Water Sprinklers, offered by Gulf Oil and Gas International, are advanced sprinkler systems known for their exceptional efficiency. These sprinklers serve as foam discharge outlets, utilizing air-aspiration to deliver optimal performance. Specifically engineered for foam-water deluge systems, they effectively address the risks associated with flammable liquids. These sprinklers, whether in an upright or pendent configuration, effectively distribute foam from overhead. Additionally, they can be followed by a standard spray sprinkler pattern with plain water. Further details can be found in NFPA 16, the authoritative "Standard for the Installation of Foam-Water Sprinkler and Foam-Water Spray Systems." Previously, the Model B-1 Sprinklers were also known as Gem Issue B-1 and Star Model B-1.

Operation
The design of the Model B-1 Foam-Water Sprinklers incorporates a distinctive venturi-style body. As the foam solution, which is a mixture of water and foam concentrate, enters the body through the inlet, a phenomenon known as the venturi effect comes into play. This effect draws air into the body through the openings near the wrenching area. The combination of foam solution and air undergoes agitation, resulting in the formation of air-aspirated foam.
These Model B-1 Foam-Water Sprinklers are engineered to discharge foam in a specific pattern while also having the capability to discharge water similar to standard spray sprinklers. Complying with the requirements outlined in NFPA 16, the foam-water sprinklers must effectively distribute water once the foam concentrate is depleted. This ensures that the sprinklers maintain their functionality and fulfill the intended purpose of fire suppression and control.
Design
The Model B-1 Upright and Pendent Foam-Water Sprinklers are designed to be incorporated into fire protection systems that adhere to the standard installation regulations for foam-water sprinkler systems, as acknowledged by the relevant Listing Agency (e.g., UL Listing conforms to NFPA 13 and 16 requirements).
To ensure adequate coverage, a minimum of two foam-water sprinklers must be installed in every area, regardless of its size, facilitating pattern overlap. The density of foam solution applied, expressed as the flow per unit of area, must comply with the guidelines, taking into account the specific flammable liquid and occupancy type. As per NFPA 16, the coverage density should not be below 0.16 gpm/ft² (6.52 Lpm/m²) of floor area, accompanied by a minimum discharge pressure of 30 psi (2.1 bar).
